Sherbert is a hybrid cannabis strain that is known by a couple of other names and spellings, particularly “Sunset Sherbert”, and what many people argue is the correct spelling of the strain – Sherbet.
This is yet another strain that I initially sampled in the Trulieve’s flower vape cups earlier this year (review here). It’s always interesting to see these strains in their full flower glory, especially when some time has passed since the last time I was able to try the strain, around 7 months in this instance.
On that note, this experience with Sherbert is a great example of how doing just that – revisiting strains we tried in the past – can be beneficial to us as patients (more on that later).

Appearance/Cure

I found Sherbert to be a visually appealing strain, as indicated in the above images. Several different hues of green, ranging from deep forest green to an almost golden shade, are all complemented by a generous cover of rich orange pistils; cream-colored trichomes complete the mosaic.
Whoever has been responsible for the QA of Trulieve’s cures in the past two months or so has really done a fine job in their position, as I have noticed that the cures and moisture content are definitely a level or two ahead of what they were in late March/early April 2019. The trim on this eighth was also nearly immaculate, which was a nice observation after seeing quite a few sugar leaves left behind on recent batches of other strains from Trulieve.
This was definitely a satisfying strain to come back to in its full flower form after initially trying it in the ceramic vape cups – here’s to being thankful that SB182 passed and allows us to obtain our medicine in its purest form.
Appearance/Cure Rating: 6.00/10.00
Smell/Taste
Sherbert certainly has a complex array of smells going on; in fact, I mentioned my difficulty in accurately describing the smell the first time I reviewed this strain.
Time and more experience have helped me dial in on how to describe the terpene profile of this strain a bit better. “Musky” is definitely the first word that comes to my mind, and by that, I mean that there is a heavy, almost sour smell when first opening the jar.
I can detect some of the GSC lineage in the terpene profile as well – for those of you who have sampled GSC flower, you will recognize it. It’s a subtle, sweet, almost sugary smell lurking underneath the surface.
Finally, there seems to be a certain “tangy” element underneath all this. Leafly’s page indicates “blueberry” as one of the top reported smells/tastes. While I don’t feel that is the best description, it is reminiscent of some strains I’ve sampled from the Blueberry lineage, so maybe that’s what they were referring to.
Interestingly enough, the terpene percentages above show a far less complex (and lower percentage) terpene profile when compared to the percentages in Dutch Hawaiian; ironically, I would say that Sherbert has a stronger smell despite having around only half the terpene content. I suppose this goes to show that we still have so much to learn about the makeup of the cannabis plant and how each component contributes to our overall medication experience.
Smell/Taste Rating: 6.60/10.00
Effects/Medical Use
Sherbert is listed on Leafly as an indica-leaning hybrid, and I will echo that sentiment in this review. Warm body effects are apparent very early on in the medication experience. There is still a cerebral quality to this strain, and it can be quite potent in larger doses. I actually found myself going to my Delta8:CBD 1:1 vape to help level out some of the effects from this strain.
As time passes from the last inhalation, the relaxing effects become more and more apparent. For that reason, I recommend this strain for evening and night time use. I find myself feeling a bit lazy and unproductive after medicating with Sherbert; for this reason, I also would recommend it as a possible choice for treating insomnia.
I mentioned above that revisiting strains from the past could be beneficial to us as patients. My two experiences with Sherbert are a great example of that. If you followed the links above to my past review of this strain, you’ll see that I found it to be a bit lackluster in the effects department; I did not find this as a very useful strain medicinally – I felt it was more suited for general adult use rather than trying to treat a specific ailment.
Coming back to it 7 months later, my take on this strain has changed. I think it is one of the better indica-dominant hybrid strains that I have tried, and found it to have some of the most pronounced body effects of any hybrid strain I have tried.
What changed? Maybe it was a genetic variation, maybe external factors during the grow, or perhaps my own body reacts to strains differently through time. Regardless of exactly what led to my having a different experience with this strain the second time I tried it, I feel this presents a good piece of advice for medical cannabis patients: it may be beneficial to revisit strains again in the future after initially “writing them off”.
Possibly good for treating:
- Minor to moderate aches and pains
- General relaxation
- Minor nausea/gastrointestinal issues
- Insomnia (especially in higher doses)
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Effects Rating: 6.80/10.00
Overall Rating: 6.46/10.00
Overall, I would best describe Sherbert as an “above average” hybrid strain from Trulieve.
At $43/eighth, I would definitely consider purchasing this strain again in the future. If nothing else, my two experiences with Sherbert taught me to give initially unremarkable strains another chance in the future – we may find that we actually enjoy the strain more the next time.
