Trulieve initially released Lemon OG Kush (or simply Lemon OG) with its initial lineup of TruCRMBL in early 2019, and released its flower form not long after. Lemon OG is described as an indica-dominant hybrid with quick-hitting effects.

My first experience with this strain was when I tried it in crumble form. I do have the say that my overall experience with the flower vs. the crumble has been slightly different, but still very enjoyable.

Appearance/Cure

I’d say Lemon OG definitely takes on more of an indica bud structure. Where the other strains of TruFlower I’ve gotten (mostly sativa or hybrid) have been composed of large buds, this batch was made up of a bunch of small, dense nugs.

This isn’t necessarily the best trim and overall presentation I’ve seen from Trulieve, but the flower is still pretty; you can clearly see the trichomes in the images above.

I like the color of this flower as well. The buds are mostly dark green, though I actually saw a few almost-black flecks on a few pieces; all are covered with red-orange pistils.

The moisture content is nearly perfect yet again. I think Trulieve has found their groove with curing this newly freed flower.

Smell/Taste

This is the first strain I’ve gotten where the flower and crumble forms don’t smell nearly identical. Whereas the crumble had a bright, zesty lemon citrus smell, the flower has a much heavier and muskier scent. There’s a subtle sweetness and a bit of an earthy quality as well; I would have to say that Lemon OG crumble is the way to go if you’re set on finding a strain that smells and tastes like lemons. The flower form definitely has citrus terpenes, but overall it has a muskier, more indica-like scent.

The taste is quite enjoyable when smoked. Definitely fresh, citrus and skunk tasting on the inhale, with the sweeter notes becoming more obvious on the exhale. I would have to say that I enjoyed the smell and taste of Lemon OG crumble more, but that’s entirely my preference; this is definitely an enjoyable smoke for taste connoisseurs. .

Effects/Medical Use

Lemon OG is listed as an indica-dominant hybrid, but for me, it performed more like a 60/40% sativa-dominant hybrid; this is the one factor that is consistent with crumble.

I really enjoy the effects of Lemon OG – both the crumble and the flower. Leafly’s description of the strain had me skeptical about trying it at first; the strain’s page basically says that the effects do not last very long. I found this not to be the case when I medicated with Lemon OG crumble, and again found that the effects lasted just as long as any other strain once I medicated with the flower.

Lemon OG effects do have a rapid onset, and will be felt almost immediately in the head and behind the eyes. For the first 20-30 minutes, I predominantly felt sativa effects. I am currently smoking a bowl of this strain, and I find it to be helpful for keeping my motivation and energy levels consistent while typing.

I also really enjoy watching movies and playing video games while medicating with Lemon OG. I haven’t tried it in the outdoors yet, but I imagine it would be a really good strain for days at the beach or generally any outdoor activity. As long as the doses are kept in the light to moderate range, I don’t see the indica effects of this strain becoming too overwhelming to function.

The indica effects are more noticeable around the 35-45 minute mark after first administration, and help ease both the mind and body into a relaxed state. In high doses, Lemon OG can help ease the patient into a restful sleep, making it a possible choice for patients suffering from insomnia.

Overall, I’d say this is a medicinally useful hybrid strain.

• Depression and related anxiety 
• Minor lack of motivation
• Good for general relaxation
• Relief of minor to moderate aches and pains
• Relief of minor to moderate nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort
• Relief of minor to moderate insomnia (in higher doses) 

I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.

Overall, I would best describe Lemon OG as an “above average” strain.

Trulieve has consistently produced some really top-notch quality flower since the smoking ban was lifted. I take this as a sign of great things to come for the Florida medical cannabis industry.

Lemon OG has definitely impressed me and stood out to me among hybrid cannabis strains. I will definitely buy this strain again in the future.
