Trulieve TruFlower Review: Jack Herer (Sativa)

Jack Herer – a classic sativa strain that I’ve enjoyed quite a few times before, and a strain that I’m enjoying yet again as I type this review. It’s named for one of the most well-known cannabis activists of our time – many of you may also be familiar with Herer’s cannabis book, The Emperor Wears No Clothes.

As for the cannabis strain, Jack Herer is a lively and energetic sativa that provides laser focus and strong cerebral effects that can last for hours after medicating. With this latest batch (and first batch of smokable) Jack Herer, I’ve also found potent psychedelic effects in higher doses.

Quite simply, this is probably the most well-grown batch of cannabis that I’ve yet to see in Florida. Trulieve absolutely killed it with this grow.

Appearance/Cure

This is one of the rare situations where the above images don’t do the bud its full justice – this batch of Jack Herer is absolutely beautiful. Each medium-light green bud is covered in burnt orange pistils and sparkling trichomes.

The first couple batches of smokable flower that I got from Trulieve were a little more dry than I like my cannabis to be; I was happy to find that this time, it was cured almost perfectly. This flower is extremely sticky and is nearly perfect on the moisture spectrum. This, in my opinion, is the best batch of flower that Trulieve has grown to this point. To them, I would say: keep doing whatever you did with this Jack Herer. You nailed it this time!

Smell/Taste

As usual, Jack Herer smells like fresh pine, wood, and earthy terpenes. My previous comparison when I reviewed this strain in the ceramic pods was to a vacation in the Appalachian mountains; it smells like many of the trees that you start seeing at higher elevations.

The one major difference with this batch of Jack Herer was that there is also a notable skunk/gas scent that is especially apparent when first opening the jar. I’ve never smelt any terpenes that I would consider skunky or gas with Jack Herer flower in the past, so perhaps this batch developed some different terpenes. As usual, the smoke is quite enjoyable.

Effects/Medical Use

Jack Herer makes for great daytime medication, providing laser focus and an extra boost of motivation to help power through tasks. I find this to be an introspective and creative strain, good for enjoying music and doing anything in the outdoors.

For medical patients looking for cerebral stimulation, I recommend smaller to medium doses. I found this time that higher doses sent me into an almost psychedelic-like state. While this can be a desirable effect for some, it can bring on anxiety for patients who are not expecting the powerful cerebral effects. I also felt slightly confused at times when I accidentally smoked a bit too much.

When taken in the correct dose for your tolerance, I find this strain to greatly enhance the vividness of colors and generally sharpen/brighten the field of vision. This can be a great tool for creativity, particularly for artists.

(I accidentally typed “field of bison” above, and really wanted to leave it like that.)

As always, the effects of Jack Herer are what one would expect from a sativa-dominant strain. I recommend this for morning and early afternoon use; it is a bit too stimulating to be useful for relaxation in the evening – at least for me.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Lack of energy/motivation
  • Depression
  • Lack of appetite
  • Minor headaches
  • Relief of minor skeletal/muscular aches and pains

Rating: 7.70/10.00

Overall Rating: 7.73/10.00

I would best describe this batch of Jack Herer as “very good”.

This is, in my opinion, the most well-grown batch of flower that Trulieve has released to date. I hope that future batches are on par (or better); if that’s the case, Trulieve will definitely continue to lead the medical cannabis market in Florida. For sativa lovers, you don’t want to miss this strain whenever it’s in stock again. Excellent daytime medication, all around, and a beautiful grow by Trulieve.
