This is the 4th Sunburn flower review I’ve written so far, and is the 4th of the 4 “new” strains they dropped at the beginning of the year, the other 3 being Dulce De Uva, Chem D, and Chem De La Wilson.
If my sources are correct, Grape Cream Cake actually spawned the Dulce De Uva that I have tried and reviewed before; the latter is said to be the best cut of Grape Cream Cake.
Since the two strains are so closely related, this review will reference my experiences with the Dulce De Uva that I linked above fairly often. If you haven’t already read it, I’d recommend reading that review before proceeding with this one.
Quick Facts:

Price at time of review: $15/gram

Appearance/Cure

Grape Cream Cake is of similar quality to the Dulce De Uva and Chem De La Wilson that I picked up – grown, cured, and dried to near perfection. They were miles ahead of the dried, no-smell Chem D eighth that I picked up.
The single gram nug I got is dense, sticky, and breaks down to the “fluffy”, “spongy” quality that so many of us love. Grape Cream Cake is not quite as visually stunning as the Dulce De Uva, with less trichome coverage. However, the trichomes that are there indicate the flower was harvested at a good time, as they are a mix of milky and amber colors.
Sunburn’s cure, dry, packaging, etc. teams should look at what they did the grams of flower and figure out why that didn’t transfer to the eighths. If they can keep hitting and improving this quality, they could have some of the best flower in Florida.
Appearance/Cure Rating: 8.70/10.00
Smell/Taste
Where Dulce De Uva has the delicious candy and grape smell right out of the bag, Grape Cream has a more musky, slightly funky and creamy smell to it.
When broken apart or ground up, the smell becomes a little more musky, with very faint hints of a gas/diesel smell coming out as well, though less than the Dulce De Uva.
When smoked, the taste is earthy, spicy, with hints of grape on the inhale. The exhale is slightly sweeter, with a smooth finish.
Overall, the smell and taste are both nice and line up perfectly with the strain’s name. The Dulce De Uva, again, was slightly better in this area.
Smell/Taste Rating: 6.70/10.00
Effects/Medical Use
Grape Cream Cake has similar effects to Dulce De Uva, but they are slightly heavier or more “indica” feeling.
This one has pretty mellow cerebral effects, with a noticeable body relaxation coming on at the same time, nearly immediately after the first hit.
As the effects settle in and time goes on, the heavier indica effects become more dominant, and eventually end with a lazy or even sleepy feeling.
Like all of Sunburn’s strains that I’ve tried so far, Grape Cream Cake has nice, clean effects that have good “legs” or duration of effects.
In my experience, Grape Cream Cake is best used from late afternoon up to late evening/bedtime. It is definitely a lazy, nonproductive strain for me.
Effects Rating: 7.00/10.00
Overall Rating: 7.46/10.00
Overall, I would best describe Grape Cream Cake as a “very good” indica strain from Sunburn.
My first impression of Sunburn Cannabis and their flower has been a very positive one, excluding the Chem D. I will definitely be including them in my rotation moving forward. As it stands, I think they have come in firmly within the Top 5, maybe even the Top 3 for best flower quality available in the West Panhandle, where we are still missing a lot of the dispensary options that South and Central Florida enjoy.
If you have a Sunburn Cannabis dispensary nearby, I say it’s worth checking out! I will certainly be back.
