GrowHealthy Flower Review: Citrus Slice (Indica)

Citrus Slice is one of several Mandarin Sunset phenotypes that GrowHealthy offers. I’ve previously tried two other phenotypes from this lineage: Kinno and Mandelo.

Like the name and genetics suggest, these phenotypes are predominantly orange citrus strains.

Appearance/Cure

For this eighth of Citrus Slice, I opted to get GrowHealthy’s “Littles” (small buds), as I have already tried two other phenotypes from this line, and generally knew what to expect.

The buds are not quite as frosty as the full-size Kinno and Mandelo phenotypes were, but this can be expected with the lower-quality littles.

Moisture content is about where it should be. These Citrus Slice buds are not particularly sticky, but they break down well.

Overall, the quality is where it should be considering these are the smaller “throwaway” buds from the plant.

Appearance/Cure Rating: 6.00/10.00

Smell/Taste

Citrus Slice has two dominant smells. The first is a musky, slight sour tangerine smell. The second is harder to describe, but is a mix of what I can best say is herbal, earthy, and perhaps hoppy. It reminds me a lot of the Kinno phenotype.

When broken apart or ground up, a sweeter orange citrus smell emerges from the buds that reminds me more of the Mandelo phenotype.

When smoked, the taste is musky and spicy.

Citrus Slice isn’t my favorite Mandarin Sunset phenotype in the smell & taste category, but it still manages to be enjoyable.

Smell/Taste Rating: 5.60/10.00

Effects/Medical Use

Like other strains in the Mandarin Sunset lineage, Citrus Slice is a moderately heavy indica that invokes enjoyable feelings of warm, full-body relaxation.

Though there is a cerebral invigoration present with this strain, it is easily dominated by the body effects, which come on around 5 to 10 minutes after the first inhalation.

Citrus Slice is not necessarily sedating or a good choice for insomnia, but it is among the heavier indica strains I have tried. It seems best suited for healing body aches and pains. With all this considered, I would say this strain is best suited for late afternoon to evening use.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Moderate aches and pains
  • Moderate nausea/gastrointestinal issues
  • General Relaxation
  • May be a good strain for being social/talkative

I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Everybody is different, and every body reacts differently to various medications.

Effects Rating: 6.70/10.00

Overall Rating: 6.10/10.00

Overall, I would best describe Citrus Slice as a “pretty good” indica strain from GrowHealthy.

Of the three Mandarin Sunset phenotypes I have tried, I would put Citrus Slice in the middle. Ranked from least favorite to most favorite, the order would be: Kinno, Citrus Slice, Mandelo.

Be well, and stay healthy. I appreciate each one of you and all your support, and please know that all that positivity will come back to you. To a wonderful rest of 2021!
