Hello everyone! Hope this review finds you well.
VidaCann has nearly doubled their flower strain inventory in the past 6 months or so, with new strains including Gelato #33, MAC 1, Super Lemon Haze, Durban Poison, Tropicanna Haze, and Margalope.
Margalope is a relatively new strain in the cannabis world, and it is my first experience with Margy genetics. I’ve found this to be a surprise favorite from VidaCann, and another great batch of flower from them.
Price at time of review: $50/eighth (Tier 1)
Lineage: Chocolope x Frozen Margy
Cannabinoids and Terpenes
I was really pleased with what I found in this eighth on Margalope. While the buds aren’t all that sticky, the moisture content is nearly perfect. The trichomes are numerous and amber in color, indicating that the plant was allowed to mature before harvest.
The buds are dense and slightly difficult to pull apart, but break down into the “fluffy” consistency that I have found to usually be consistent with good flower.
Along with recent batches of their MAC 1, this flower gives me faith that VidaCann continues to improve their flower quality. Well done!
Appearance/Cure Rating: 7.70/10.00
Terpinolene is the dominant terpene in Margalope, and it seems to have a very distinct smell that can be found in other strains where it is dominant or co-dominant, including: Super Silver Haze, Super Lemon Haze, Jack Herer, Space Bomb, and many others.
If you’ve had one of the above strains, you likely know what I’m referring to. For those who haven’t experienced this type of strain, it has a strong pine, lemon, and earthy scent. Some describe it as “like lemon floor cleaner”, which is a fair description as well.
When broken down, Margalope has a sweet candy lemon smell, almost like a frozen lemon drink. There’s also hints of earth, pine, and subtle gas/fuel.
The taste when smoked is lemon, pine, and spicy – very similar to the smell in the jar.
Smell/Taste Rating: 7.90/10.00
Margalope is another extremely potent cerebral sativa. Its effects remind me a lot of another VidaCann sativa: Super Lemon Haze. Like that strain, Margalope caused me to have some social anxiety the first time I tried it, as its strong effects were nearly psychedelic. It isn’t particularly speedy or racy.
After this strong cerebral shift begins to wear off, Margalope eases off into a blissful euphoria. I can harness its effects into creative or motivating energy, though it takes a bit of effort. There is a body relaxation component here as well, but it is subtle. It’s a good “happy” strain, and almost always manages to lift my mood.
After developing a tolerance to the psychedelic effects of this strain, I enjoy it a lot, and it is among my favorite sativa strains from VidaCann. I’d recommend everyone start with a low dose when first experimenting with this strain, unless you have a high tolerance. I’d generally recommend it for daytime use – early morning to early afternoon.
Possibly good for treating:
- Lack of energy
- Lack of appetite
- Minor headaches
- Relief of minor skeletal/muscular aches and pains
- Good for general enjoyment of life/activities
- Good for “stepping out of the box” with mental outlook
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Everybody is different, and every body reacts differently to various medications.
Effects Rating: 8.30/10.00
Overall Rating: 7.96/10.00
Overall, I would best describe Margalope as a “very good” sativa strain from VidaCann.
VidaCann continues to be a dispensary of interest to me as they churn out new flower genetics. I look forward to seeing additional new strains from them, and of course, I’ll try and review as many as I possibly can for all of you out there.
As always, thank you for reading, and here’s hoping that you have a great 2021!
