GrowHealthy Flower Review: Emerald City Kush (Indica)

Emerald City Kush is one of GrowHealthy’s newer strains as of the time of this review. There really isn’t a lot of information available about it, so I can only describe my experiences with this strain for you all to have a reference when considering buying it or not.

I enjoy this one. It’s not necessarily my favorite GrowHealthy indica flower, but it is a nice strain.

Appearance/Cure

I was really impressed with the overall quality of this eighth of Emerald City Kush. The large nug in the images above is the largest I’ve ever gotten in Florida’s legal market up to this point, weighing in at 2.8 grams by itself.

The color of the strain fairly closely matches its name, with a deep and vivid almost-emerald green color that immediately grabs one’s attention.

The cure and trim of this flower is, again, nearly perfect – another great staple in a long series of phenomenal quality pickups from GrowHealthy (who operates as iAnthus, or $ITHUF for you investors who are reading this.)

I found this flower to be dense and really sticky to the touch. This was another great job from start to finish by GrowHealthy.

Appearance/Cure Rating: 8.10/10.00

Smell/Taste

Emerald City Kush has a unique smell, that has notes of musky hash, different types of wood, and oddly enough – a hint of bad breath.

If there’s any other strain I’ve tried that has a smell somewhat close to Emerald City Kush, it would have to be Trulieve’s Crescendo – but it is not a close match.

When ground up, a much more pungent diesel and chemical/ammonia aroma quickly becomes apparent.

The taste when smoked slightly resembles the smell of the flower, but it’s mostly just earthy, woody, and spicy.

I enjoyed the smell and taste of Emerald City Kush, but did not find it to be a standout strain here.

Smell/Taste Rating: 6.50/10.00

Effects/Medical Use

I find Emerald City Kush to be a heavy and sedating indica strain, but it doesn’t necessarily make me sleepy. I smoked quite a bit before writing this review, and mostly just found myself spaced out and laughing at random things. It’s hard for me to focus or remain productive; really, all I want to do is just “sit here”.

This isn’t really a “fun” indica for me either though, not when compared to the likes of other great strains like Wookie Girl. It seems like it may be good for pain, GI issues, or other similar ailments – maybe even a good strain for anxiety.

There is some cerebral lift with this strain, but not much. The body relaxation is not the most fulfilling either; there is just more of an overall haziness and cloudiness that I feel every time I medicate with this strain.

I have to say, Emerald City Kush is not my favorite indica in the effects department. As I always say though: it might be your favorite, so don’t let this review stop you from trying it!

Possibly good for treating:

  • Anxiety
  • Moderate aches and pains
  • Moderate nausea/gastrointestinal issues
  • General (Heavy) Relaxation
  • Other similar ailments that heavy/relaxing indicas may relieve
  • Insomnia (in high doses)

I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Everybody is different, and every body reacts differently to various medications.

Effects Rating: 6.00/10.00

Overall Rating: 6.86/10.00

Overall, I would best describe Emerald City Kush as a “good” indica strain from GrowHealthy.

While the genetics weren’t my personal favorite, I do have to give the growers at this MMTC their credit for an excellent production. To any GrowHealthy executives who may be reading: your greatest strength right now is in whoever is behind the grow operation – hands down.

  1. Hello, do you happen to know of any specific reason why Growhealthy seems to cross so many strains with OZ Kush (BX1)?
