GrowHealthy Flower Review: Strawberry Haze (Sativa)

Strawberry Haze is a Florida cannabis community favorite strain from GrowHealthy. A quick search on the Florida Medical Trees subreddit will yield dozens of threads from different people, all raving about the different desirable aspects of this strain – from its strawberry smell, to its strong sativa effects.

It appears this version of Strawberry Haze is unique to GrowHealthy, as the only other Strawberry Haze I can find on various cannabis websites seems to have been developed by a grower named Arjan, and has different genetics.

I initially chose 99 Problems over this strain for my first flower purchase from GrowHealthy, because I felt I had enough “strawberry” strains at the time. Ironically, I like Strawberry Haze more.

Appearance/Cure

This eighth of Strawberry Haze was grown tremendously well. This is among the best quality I’ve gotten from GrowHealthy, and every single batch I’ve bought has been at least excellent quality as it is.

Folks really hype up this strain, and I can see why now – it’s well-deserved. The buds are thick, dense, and very sticky, with the perfect amount of moisture content. It’s just at that level of stickiness where the grinder can still handle it. It looks like everything about the grow, including the overall cure and trim, are superior quality.

Trichomes are easily visible to the naked eye without any artificial light needed, and breaking open any one of the buds reveals an even more impressively thick blanket of crystals all throughout the flower. It’s a flower that is truly stunning.

Appearance/Cure Rating: 9.00/10.00

Smell/Taste

One of the most hyped aspects of Strawberry Haze is its smell – it seems almost unanimous that this is the most strawberry-like of all the Strawberry strains in Florida.

I agree with the majority here, as someone who has tried all of the available Strawberry Strains. It smells a lot like fresh, ripe strawberries. It easily beats Trulieve’s Strawberry Switchblade and VidaCann’s Strawberry Cough in this category. MUV’s Strawberry Cough smells about as good, but it smells more like a Strawberry Creme Saver candy than a fresh strawberry. Strawberry Haze is the strain to go for if you’re looking for an authentic strawberry smell and taste. It should be noted that other berry smells, such as grape and blueberry, can be picked up as well.

To me, I found the Super Silver Haze parent strain could also be faintly detected in the terpene profile. Patients who have had this strain should know what I’m talking about – it’s an earthy, piney scent that seems to linger on underneath all the dominant berry terpenes.

The taste when this strain is smoked is both sweet and almost syrup-like, with a slight earthy diesel finish on the exhale.

Smell/Taste Rating: 8.40/10.00

Effects/Medical Use

Strawberry Haze reminds me a lot of how Trulieve’s Super Silver Haze made me feel, but perhaps even more on the energetic and speedy side of the sativa spectrum. This is a sativa that I find best for the early morning up to the late afternoon, as it has intense cerebral effects. I find Strawberry Haze good for both motivation and creativity. I enjoyed taking a walk this morning after smoking a bowl, and I have also enjoyed writing this review after medicating with it, easily remaining focused and keeping my train of thought.

This seems like one of the better sativa strains for treating my depression; I am able to step back and look at things from a more constructive and logical perspective, rather than having my anxieties distort my outlook on life or whatever the topic may be.

Strawberry Haze is very similar to 99 Problems in terms of how it affects me, but I think 99 Problems was the more racy strain of the two. This strain really keeps the “happy” feeling that I loved so much in its Super Silver Haze parent. Patients who enjoy either of Strawberry Haze’s parents should absolutely try this one out.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Depression
  • ADD/ADHD or focus-related issues
  • Lack of motivation
  • Improves concentration and memory recall
  • Increases energy/alertness, in a way almost similar to caffeine
  • Good for “stepping out of the box” with current mindset; good for changing mental perspective.

I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Everybody is different, and every body reacts differently to various medications.

Effects Rating: 9.00/10.00

Overall Rating: 8.80/10.00

Overall, I would best describe Strawberry Haze as an “excellent” sativa strain from GrowHealthy.

Like many others, this easily takes the place as my favorite Strawberry strain currently available in Florida. I absolutely recommend this strain to sativa connoisseurs and patients who are looking for an authentic strawberry-smelling cannabis strain.

Many more reviews from the various MMTCs and other content are coming soon – especially as I find myself at home nearly 24/7 during this COVID-19 pandemic – so stay tuned!
