I first enjoyed Mandarin Cookies in vape cart form a few months ago (review here); I really enjoyed the cart for its tasty terpenes as well as the stimulating and uplifting effects that worked well for both my anxiety and my depression.
The Mandarin Cookies flower has turned out to be another high quality batch from VidaCann, and it really is a good example of why THC percentage isn’t the “end-all be-all” for how medicinally effective a strain will ultimately be.

Unfortunately, VidaCann doesn’t make their lab reports available unless requested, so I have no terpene percentages to provide for this strain, as I have not received the report at this time. Whenever this information becomes available, I will update this section with the terpenes and their percentages.
Appearance/Cure

This eighth of Mandarin Cookies is one of the more visually appealing strains that I’ve gotten from VidaCann. Light and medium greens are accented with various shades of purple, and numerous golden trichomes cover the entire buds enough that they are visible to the naked eye. Burnt orange pistils are scattered throughout the color ensemble, making for an almost delicate look for this flower.
The cure is nearly perfect; the buds have perfect moisture content and are sticky to the touch when broken apart. The eight itself is made of mostly smaller and medium sized buds, which could possibly be a genetic quality of the Cookies parent strain.
Overall, this is an impressively growth eighth. Well done, Vidacann.
Appearance/Cure Rating: 7.00/10.00
Smell/Taste
Mandarin Cookies has a sharp, zesty terpene profile that really “bites” as soon as the jar is opened. The smell in the jar has lemon citrus overtones that remind me of another VidaCann Strain: I95 x Lemon G13; however, Mandarin Cookies’ citrus smell seems to be brighter and sweeter. The familiar smell of the Girl Scout Cookies (now called GSC or just “Cookies”) comes through in the background and will be noticeable for patients who have had any strain in the Cookies family.
When broken apart or ground down, Mandarin Cookies emits more of a light diesel aroma, and the Cookies terpenes seem to become more prominent as well.
The taste when smoked is very similar to the smell – very zesty citrus forward, with the earthy and nutty Cookies tastes in the background.
This is a very nice smelling and tasting strain.
Smell/Taste Rating: 7.20/10.00
Effects/Medical Use
Mandarin Cookies is a sativa-dominant hybrid, and it feels much like one. If you’ve had the Mandarin Cookies vape cart, the flower feels largely similar to it in terms of effects, though maybe slightly more indica-leaning.
When smoked, this strain brings on a strong burst of cerebral energy at first. Despite the relatively low THC content of ~12%, this flower still manages to pack a punch. Terpenes, flavonoids, and a host of other parts of the cannabis plant work together to determine the overall effects of a particular strain.
Like most sativa-dominant hybrids, I find Mandarin Cookies good for both productivity and creativity. Full-body relaxation does begin to creep in as the effects progress, but it is easy to stay productive and stay moving in spite of this. I recommend Mandarin Cookies for use any time from the early morning to the early evening hours.
Possibly good for treating:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Minor to moderate aches and pains
- Headaches
- Lack of motivation
- General relaxation/relief
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Effects Rating: 7.00/10.00
Overall Rating: 7.06/10.00
Overall, I would best describe Mandarin Cookies as a “good” hybrid strain from VidaCann.
Patients with depression or other similar conditions will enjoy this uplifting strain. Patients who enjoy either/both citrus terpenes and Cookies strains will especially enjoy Mandarin Cookies.
This is a strain I can definitely see myself purchasing again in the future, as it works well for my medical conditions as described above. VidaCann has a quality selection of strains, and seems to be consistently growing a high quality flower product. I look forward to continuing to try and review more strains from them in the future!
