Yesterday (07..08.2019), I was surprised to receive an email from Surterra announcing that they finally had flower available in the form of 0.5 gram pre-rolls.
3 strains were initially released at launch (for a select few locations): Original Glue (GG4), Stardawg, and Chemdog.
Since I’ve already tried Stardawg flower from Trulieve (review here), I opted to try the Chemdog (review here), and Original Glue.
This was another quality product that has left me impressed with Surterra’s first round of whole flower products.

Appearance/Product Quality

I immediately noticed the fact that the twisted ends weren’t cut off – not sure how much this would cut into production time, but it feels like it would be a nice “final touch” to really pull this product together.
Other than the goofy twisted ends that were left behind, I don’t have anything negative to say about this product. It burned nice and even – not rolled too tight or too loose. Enjoyable smoke. This pre-roll was nearly identical to the Chemdog preroll that I tried.
Appearance/Product Quality Rating: 3.90/5.00
Smell/Taste
This pre-roll of Original Glue had a bit more of a scent than the Chemdog pre-roll I tried, and that is evidenced by the relative terpene content; the Original Glue had almost twice the amount of total terpenes than the Chemdog.
However, this did not smell or taste anything like I would expect Original Glue to smell based off the Leafly page and from trying a descendent of that strain: Duct Tape.
In fact, the smell was more sweet and citrusy than anything else, evidenced by the relatively high limonene content in this pre-roll (the Chemdog had much less limonene.) There was also a bit of a musky scent, which is more of what I would expect Original Glue flower to smell.
The taste was not very strong, though there was a hint of a sweet, fruity terpenes – most likely the limonene, again.
After trying two different pre-rolls from Surterra, I think the biggest thing they need to work on is getting those terpene percentages higher; terpenes are medicinally beneficial in their own right, as well as providing a more enjoyable overall taste and experience for the patient.
Smell/Taste Rating: 3.80/5.00
Effects/Medical Use
I found Original Glue to be unique in the progression of its effects. Initially, I felt indica dominant effects: very heavy and warm body relaxations. Typically, I feel these sensations towards the end of the effects, but I actually felt it almost immediately in to this pre-roll.
It seems that this batch of Original Glue behaved the opposite of most hybrids I’ve tried, because after about 30 minutes, the more cerebral sativa effects became more prominent. I felt a bit giggly, and more tuned in to my creative mind.
On the medical side, this strain was good for relieving both a headache and some stomach pain that I was experiencing prior to medicating. I would have to say I prefer a strain like this for afternoons and evenings.
Possibly good for treating:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Minor aches and pains
- General relaxation
- Mild to moderate headaches
- Lack of appetite (mild appetite stimulant)
- Mild to moderate gastrointestinal discomfort (Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other similar conditions)
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Effects Rating: 4.00/5.00
Overall Rating: 3.90/5.00
Overall, I would best describe the Surterra Wellness Original Glue pre-roll as an “above average” product.
Ultimately, it is nice to have another option for whole cannabis flower in Florida’s medical program. For their first batch, Surterra did a nice job with this cut of Original Glue, though again, I would definitely like to see higher terpene percentages in future batches. Not sure what the solution would be for Surterra in that regard, but it is something to consider.
I’m pretty impressed with Surterra’s roll-out (pun intended) of their whole flower product. Though I would prefer to see loose flower options from them, this is a nice start, and I think with time we will find that Surterra has a consistent high-quality flower selection. I’ll definitely be back to try other strains from them in the future, and I would recommend each patient try at least one of their pre-rolls as well.
