VidaCann – Tikun Olam Vape Cartridge Review: Alaska (Sativa)

Tikun Olam (pronounced Tih-koon Oh-Lahm) is a medical cannabis company that originally started in Israel. Since Israel has allowed medical cannabis use since the early 1990s, this means that these products have much more documented research behind them – a good thing for cannabis patients looking for consistent products.

Luckily for those of us who have a Florida medical cannabis card, we have access to some of Tikun Olam’s products through their agreement with VidaCann.

Alaska is described on its official product page as “an invigorating, high-THC sativa named for its cool, refreshing taste. Great for daytime use and seasoned cannabis consumers, Alaska has been shown to relieve nausea, headaches, and pain, and will help elevate your energy levels and overall mood.”

Taste:

This Alaska vape cart has a very notably accurate taste of actual cannabis flower. Assuming that 200mg of this cart is devoted to terpenes and flavonoids, etc., it definitely shows in its strong taste. Many of the distillate syringes I’ve tried, though they contained cannabis-derived terpenes and often had a good taste, the taste wasn’t always necessarily strong or easy to identify. This is not the case with the Alaska vape cart; this has a very full flavor.

The most dominant taste in this cart is definitely that of fresh pine, backed by a sweet citrus and almost a hint of tropical fruit or some other sweet terpene in the taste. The official page for the Alaska strain (also linked above) shows the following terpene makeup:

TERPENES

ALPHA-PINENE  39%
BETA-MYRCENE  28%
BETA-PINENE  12%
LIMONENE  10%
OCIMENE  7%
OTHER  4%
This is consistent with the tastes that I’ve personally identified from vaping this cart. It’s very smooth.

The high quality taste of this cart has me eager to try the Alaska flower and prerolls, which are supposedly coming to VidaCann in late Summer 2019.

Vapor and Product Quality

As pictured above, the Tikun Olam carts come packaged in a nice cardboard box with the company logo and all that good stuff. Notably missing from the packaging were any cannabinoid percentages or batch numbers. I don’t doubt the quality of Tikun Olam or VidaCann – both are excellent – but it would be nice to see the exact percentages as is common with most other medical cannabis products in Florida.

The cart itself is a Jupiter CCell, and it works wonderfully. I have had zero issues with clogging in this cart, and the vapor produced is very smooth and full. I appreciate the finer details like the strain name being wrapped around the bottom of the cart for easy identification. This is an issue with other carts in the program; they should take notes from Tikun Olam here.

This is an expensive product, but it is a quality product. You get what you pay for.

Vapor/Product Quality Rating: 4.50/5.00

Effects:

Leafly’s strain page for Alaska describes it as a 70% sativa-dominant hybrid, but from my experience, I would argue that it is closer to 80%. The high quality of this product definitely came through in the effects as well, as they were very “clean” and also very close to what smoking cannabis flower feels like.

I never felt speedy or racy from dosing with this strain, but I could see where novice users or extremely high doses might lead to some anxiety, as this is potent medicine.

I had a pretty bad headache today. 400mg of ibuprofen and a 3-second drag of this vape cart significantly reduced the pain and discomfort; now, 5 hours later, the headache is completely gone.

Alaska also worked very well for both my mood and my motivation, making it an excellent choice for morning and day times. I get strong waves of euphoria at random when medicating with this strain, and I also get bursts of creativity that can lead to heightened productivity. I can definitely tell that there has been a lot of thought and research put into this formulation, as it feels the most like what I first imagined a sativa vape cart to feel like when I was waiting for my approval into the program.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Minor to moderate aches and pains
  • Headaches
  • Lack of motivation
  • General relaxation/relief
  • Relief of nausea and other gastrointestinal symptoms

Effects Rating: 4.50/5.00

Overall Rating: 4.47/5.00

Tikun Olam’s Alaska Vape Cart is best described as a “superior quality” product.

Due to the high price of the Tikun Olam vape carts, I will probably save my VidaCann rewards points and use the discounts towards getting these. The quality is amazing, and I will definitely buy this again in the future, as well as try out their indica strain: Eran Almog.

I absolutely recommend this strain to any patient looking for daytime relief of their symptoms: this product provides the type of effects most patients would typically expect from a sativa strain. This is a great choice for utilizing VidaCann’s first time patient discount of $55 off a purchase of $100 or more.

Hope you all have a wonderful morning, afternoon, evening, or night – whichever applies. Thanks for reading the review!
