VidaCann Flower Review: Duct Tape (Hybrid)

After hearing patients rave on the Florida Medical Trees subreddit for months, I’ve eagerly awaited a chance to try flower from VidaCann. The location in Pensacola finally opened a couple of weeks ago, and I was able to order a batch of Duct Tape online and make the trek down I-10 to grab some.

It was worth it. VidaCann has a reputation for good flower for a reason. Though there have been some concerns of mold on previous batches over the past few weeks, I’m happy to inform all readers that my batch has been completely clear of mold or any other pests.

This is premium quality flower. Duct Tape descends from the infamous GG#4 or Original Glue strain, and lives up to its namesake in that it will definitely leave you stuck to whatever you’re sitting or lying in.

Quick Facts:

Duct Tape  (Hybrid)

Lineage: Original Glue (GG#4) x Do-Si-Dos

783.0 mg THC/3.5g

0.0 mg CBD/3.5g

Appearance/Cure

Duct Tape buds are shorter and more dense, both attributes commonly associated with indica strains. Color is mainly comprised of darker greens, though there are a few golden yellow highlights. Dark orange, almost brown pistils are accompanied by frosty white trichomes.

This is a quality cure, though the buds were very slightly drier than I prefer. It wasn’t bad – just very easy to break the buds apart. Other than that, I am very impressed with the overall cure and trim of this batch of Duct Tape.

Appearance/Cure Rating: 6.50/10.00

Smell/Taste

Duct Tape is a very pungent and musky strain. This isn’t necessarily the “loudest” herb when first opening the jar, but further inspection yields very funky, skunky, gassy terpenes. This is only amplified by breaking apart or grinding the buds, which magnifies these smells tremendously. This is one of the first Florida medical strains I’ve gotten that has an almost cheese-like terpene as well.

This strain has a very unique and enjoyable terpene profile that really stands out amongst all the strains I’ve tried up to this point. It’s so rich that there are elements that remind me of Sour Diesel, Gorilla Grapes, LA Confidential, and various other strains all at once.

Smoking a bowl of Duct Tape yields a very similar taste: skunky, pungent, and delicious. While I’ve had many strains lately that did not stand out or have a notable terpene profile, this one is different. Hoping for more strains like this from VidaCann in the future – especially some unique sativa strains.

Smell/Taste Rating: 7.10/10.00

Effects/Medical Use

Duct Tape is one of the heaviest and most sedating strains I have ever tried. It definitely takes the heaviest hybrid strain position away from Gorilla Grapes; in fact, this strain is so indica-like that I would not think twice if it were labeled as an indica strain altogether.

While there is still a cerebral aspect present, I immediately feel the warm and heavy body sensations when first medicating with this strain. This is one of the only hybrids I’ve found that almost immediately provides that warm-body sensation that is so great for pain relief and general relaxation.

I do not recommend this strain for daytime use, at least not if you plan on being productive. Though I am able to write this review while under the effects of Duct Tape (I always medicate with a strain right before I review it), it took a little more convincing for me to actually focus on doing the task.

This, in my opinion, is a much more suitable strain for late evening and nighttime relaxation, with all the usual relaxing activities: watching TV, video gaming, taking a hot shower or bath, etc. Whatever you find relaxing: Duct Tape will enhance the relaxation aspect.

Especially in high doses, I find this a good strain for treating insomnia as well. In fact, one of the most effect remedies I have found is mixing this and 9lb Hammer flower in a bowl.

Duct Tape has great sedating and relaxing properties. If those are the effects you are after, I highly recommend this strain.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Anxiety
  • Moderate aches and pains
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Moderate nausea/gastrointestinal issues
  • General Relaxation
  • Depression
  • Insomnia

I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.

Effects Rating: 7.40/10.00

Overall Rating: 7.00/10.00

Overall, I would best describe this batch of Duct Tape as “good”.

This is definitely a medicinally valuable cannabis strain, and one of the most sedating strains I’ve tried to this point. The cure, the smell, and the effects were all very enjoyable; I will definitely buy this strain again in the future.

Though the $50 price tag is a bit much, this is some of the best flower I’ve found in the program, so it makes it slightly less painful to pay it. I would buy this strain all day long at $40/eighth, however – maybe in the near future?

I absolutely recommend Duct Tape to patients looking for relief from the ailments describe above, and other similar conditions. This is quality medicine, and I will definitely be trying other strains from VidaCann in the near future.
