An offspring of two different Afghani phenotypes, LA Confidential has gained even more popularity in recent years for its medicinal effects of relaxation and pain relief.
Trulieve first released this strain in early April 2019 as one of its first smokable flower options. I’ve tried it in a preroll before and enjoyed it in that form, but after trying the full loose flower, I’ve found this to be one of my favorite indica strains.
LA Confidential (Indica)
Lineage: OG LA Affie x Afghani
Batch/Harvest Number: FFOBBULUGE000004 (that’s an “O” at the beginning and zeroes at the end)
Total Cannabinoids: 20.5%
“*” denotes the two dominant terpenes in this strain
Total Terpenes: 0.729%
LA Confidential has a more typical indica appearance in its flowers. The short, chunky buds are mostly dark green, covered in trichomes, and cured beautifully.
Again, the moisture content is nearly perfect. There really isn’t anything negative to say about this batch.
I’ve found that I absolutely love both the smell and taste of this strain. There is a rich, pungent sweetness that is immediately apparent, slightly reminding me of this same smell that’s present in Gorilla Grapes. I presume that this dominating sweet smell comes from the OG LA Affie parent of this strain, which is described as having a sweet smell on its Leafly page.
There’s also some earthy and woody undertones in LA Confidential, but the rich and sweet smell is definitely what catches my attention each time I smell the jar.
The taste is just as pleasant as the smell, having a rich, kush-like taste that can linger when smoked in a joint. I really enjoy the smell and taste of LA Confidential.
LA Confidential is not a particularly sedating or “heavy” indica strain, but it is extremely relaxing. At first, potent cerebral effects make themselves known almost immediately; higher doses coupled with a low tolerance could lead to some slightly psychedelic experiences with this strain, if that effect is desirable for the patient in the use of treating mental ailments.
I always find LA Confidential for leisurely activities like listening to music, watching TV shows and movies, and generally anything that doesn’t require a lot of physical effort. While this strain is not sedating, it is very relaxing, to the point that I usually get a couch-lock before it’s all said and done.
The relaxing body effects usually come in after about 30-45 minutes, and can help ease into a resting sleep at the end of the night; however, I would recommend other indica strains like 9lb Hammer or Bubba Kush if the patient is specifically looking to treat insomnia.
Possibly good for treating:
- Minor aches and pains
- General relaxation
- Lack of appetite (mild appetite stimulant)
- Mild gastrointestinal discomfort (Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other similar conditions)
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Overall Rating: 6.93/10.00
I would best describe this batch of LA Confidential as “good”.
This is a great indica strain that, while ideal for evening use, could realistically be used at any time of the day due to its lack of significant sedative properties. I would best describe this as a 65/35% indica-dominant hybrid strain, best for relieving anxiety and minor to moderate body stress, aches, and pains.
Keep up the great grows, Trulieve. LA Confidential has earned a place on my “buy again” list.
