Surterra Wellness – Coral Reefer Disposable Vape Pen Review: Surfin’ In A Hurricane

Surterra Wellness announced their Coral Reefer line early this year: a collaboration with Jimmy Buffett that focuses on combining cannabis with the “beach vibe” that Buffett is so well-known for.

The Coral Reefer line is currently comprised of vape pen products that are divided into 4 categories of increasing THC concentration: Low Tide, Mid Tide, High Tide, and Tsunami.

Naturally, my introduction to this line was with a “Tsunami” level product: the Surfin’ In A Hurricane disposable vape pen. I’ve been very impressed with the flavor, effects, and overall product quality. Surterra definitely has a good thing going with this Coral Reefer line, if my first impression is any indication, and I look forward to trying the other products soon.

Quick Facts

Surfin’ In A Hurricane

THC: 250mg

CBD: 0mg

Taste:

I was quickly impressed with the taste of the vapor from Surfin’ In A Hurricane. The initial tastes on the inhale are reminiscent of sweet mango, tropical fruit, and notes that reminded me of both margaritas and certain types of bubble gum.

On the exhale, the tropical fruit notes remain, but there are also more subtle earthy tastes in the background as well.

Honestly, this product tasted almost exactly like I thought it would, given the nature of Jimmy Buffet and what I imagined he would do with a cannabis product. This stuff tastes good! I didn’t get tired of it through the course of the one disposable vape pen that I bought.

Vapor and Product Quality

Coral Reefer vape pens come packaged in a cardboard box, as seen in the image above, Inside the box is one of the typical childproof tubes that these pens often come in; to open the tube, you simply squeeze it near the top until the little cap pops out.

The pen itself resembles a CCell cart. To use this type of pen, you simply inhale to activate the battery. I had absolutely zero issues with the battery going dead before the product was gone, but this may be because I go through these pens very quickly.

I also had no issues with clogging, or really any issues with the product itself. It worked exactly as intended, and the small size makes it discreet and convenient for medicating.

Vapor/Product Quality Rating: 4.20/5.00

Effects:

For me, Surfin’ In A Hurricane performed like an indica-dominant hybrid. In low doses, this made me talkative and motivated. For this reason, I initially thought that I would be describing this as a sativa-dominant hybrid or even a balanced hybrid. However, the higher doses are where this medicine begins to change course into a couch-locked indica feel. I felt warm body sensations and a general euphoria; after about an hour had passed, I found it increasingly difficult to keep my eyes open.

I also found good use in keeping this pen close to my bed for any time I happened to wake up in the middle of the night. It worked extremely well for helping me ease back to sleep before my mind and thoughts had a chance to start racing. The ease of use of this product made it even more convenient for that purpose.

This is a versatile product. It seems to have more sativa-like effects in low doses – great for mental ailments and overcoming any depression or motivational issues. In higher doses, this product begins to feel much more “heavy”, and can help ease the patient into sleep. Surfin’ In A Hurricane is good for use at any time of the day.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Minor to moderate aches and pains
  • Lack of motivation (in lower doses)
  • General relaxation/relief
  • Relief of nausea and other gastrointestinal symptoms
  • Insomnia (in higher doses)

Effects Rating: 4.10/5.00

Overall Rating: 4.10/5.00

Surterra/Coral Reefer’s “Surfin’ In A Hurricane” is best described as an “excellent” product.

Though I haven’t really been interested in Surterra’s products up until recently, the Coral Reefer line definitely brings a fresh perspective to cannabis and improves Surterra’s versatility in their product offerings. I will absolutely be back to try the other Coral Reefer products, so stay tuned to this website for more reviews of that product line coming soon!

I would definitely recommend this product for each patient to try at least once. At $35, this is $10 more than Surterra’s “in-house” vape pens, but in my opinion, the taste and more potent effects make the price difference worth it.

  1. After using medical cannabis for just over six months, I believe I can provide good insight into these products. I also find the Coral Reefer line of vape pens really nice. The tastes are much more pleasing to the palette. The medicinal benefits are also high quality. I have tried a variety of products from Surterra’s line of products, and the Coral Refer line – both of which are very good series of products. I sadly tried another dispensary’s brands which were mediocre, and I can assure Surterra I will continue to be a loyal customer. I appreciate the quality of the products, and for providing the research and knowledge to convert the potential benefits of each particular substance into a compact ready to use health and wellness product. I am much happier that I really do feel better than on synthetic pills! I have been living 25 years – and prayerfully that many more and then some – though with less symptoms associated with cancer, chronic pain and nausea/vomiting, and chronic muscle spasms due to serious injuries – thanks to medical cannabis, my future looks better. I have been a complex needs patient. I was able to get rid of 5 pills – very strong pain and nausea meds, and muscle relaxers, of which I had developed a tolerance to, and which I was able to step down from very quickly on MC (medical cannabis) until I was able to go without those. I was on dronabinol (generic Marinol®) capsules for years prior, for chronic nausea. This was an indica based product and worked very well against nausea and/or vomiting (n/v); but, unlike MC, now I am getting the extra benefits of the CBD, THC, and terpenes which is also very important, and work synergistically. I stick with the Surterra and Coral Reefer guidelines to start low, go slow, and count out 2 seconds per inhalation, which works well…and waiting between inhalations to give it time to work. I believe these are an important and necessary step to good medical usage, and to be able to determine how much is enough. No wasting product. Remember, CBDs need time to build up in your system, THC is more for immediate results.
Quick acting, and short acting in re THC affects. Sticking with the suggested guidelines for usage, I find the vape pens last me a long time. I alternate between types – ratios and/or strains – to achieve functional and positive effects depending on my needs and activities. And, nice not to smell like I am using cannabis! It is a nice, discreet way to take medicine(s) – terpenes, CBD & THC, while treating multiple symptoms. No odors in my clothes and home, no pill bottles to carry around – just one or two vape pens in my pouch when I go out – clean and simplistic. That’s nice. 🙂 Thanks to everyone at Surterra and Coral Reefer for the development of quality products. These naturally derived medicines have improved the quality of my life. Kudos. בייה
