Gorilla Grapes has been around Trulieve for quite some time now – I initially sampled this strain in late fall of 2018 when it was in ceramic pods, and truly enjoyed the indica-dominant effects of it back then.
Trying it in loose flower form has proved to be an even more enjoyable experience as everything I enjoyed about this strain the first time is still present, and enhanced by the fact that I am able to enjoy the full medicinal benefits of the flower in smokable form.

Appearance/Cure

These Gorilla Grapes buds were medium in size and fairly dense with a compact bud structure. Something I find notable about this strain from buying it two different times, several months apart, is that it has a noticeable lack of pistils (there are a few darker amber ones sprinkled around); because of this, the buds are all nearly uniform in color. Gorilla Grapes flower is mostly all medium-green with a modest amount of light green/golden areas near the bottom and interior of the buds.
I found this cure to be excellent yet again, with nearly perfect moisture content. I have to give props to Trulieve for consistently producing high quality cured flower over the past several weeks.

Smell/Taste
I really enjoyed the smell and taste of Gorilla Grapes the first time I tried it, and found that both were spot on in consistency this time around, even though it’s been nearly 6 months since the last time I got this strain. Gorilla Grapes is really pungent and dank, but there’s terpenes in this strain that I find unique from any other strain I’ve tried from Trulieve; the best way I could describe it is to say it’s reminiscent of fresh water or the smell of rain right before a thunderstorm. For me, this is an extremely pleasant smell, and I can’t help but to keep smelling the jar if it’s in front of me.
There’s a bit of skunk, citrus, diesel, and a fresh earthiness as well, all of which make for a pleasant tasting smoke. “Green” (the first) hits of Gorilla Grapes from a pipe taste absolutely amazing. I would have to say this is one of my favorite strains in the smell & taste category.

Effects/Medical Use
I would definitely say Gorilla Grapes is an indica-dominant hybrid. The first few hits quickly bring on a heavy-headed sensation that helps alleviate headaches and neck tension. After 15-20 minutes, the warm and relaxing sensations spread to the rest of the body. I find myself consistently couch locked when medicating with Gorilla Grapes. In lower doses, I can remain functional; higher doses are sedating to the point that I will not move for hours if I’m in a comfortable seat.
Gorilla Grapes is mainly an evening and nighttime strain for me, but I occasionally will use it in smaller doses earlier in the day if I’m planning on relaxing or need a little extra relief from anxiety or general aches and pains.
Something that I’ve noticed about this strain: it almost always gives me the munchies, so I would recommend this to patients who are looking to stimulate their appetite and/or gain weight.
Possibly good for treating:
- Anxiety
- Minor to moderate aches and pains
- Insomnia (in higher doses)
- Headaches
- Lack of appetite (appetite stimulant)
- Gastrointestinal discomfort (Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other similar conditions)
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Effects Rating: 7.60/10.00
Overall Rating: 6.96/10.00
Overall, I would best describe Gorilla Grapes as a “good” hybrid strain.
This strain always stands out to me among other hybrids; it is unique and extremely enjoyable in both its taste and effects. I will definitely purchase this strain in various forms in the future, and absolutely recommend it to other patients.

Just bought some of this yesterday, it is an excellent choice for pain relief, I’ve had a couple strokes that caused many other problems and this is the first time I’ve gotten so much relief from marijuana. However, it’s not something I can use if I have a lot to do, it’s more of a last resort for me because I want to keep the effects I get from and as we all know to much of one thing can ruin it.

I forgot to mention, all of the marijuana products are excessively overpriced, we can buy the same product in other states with medical marijuana for 1/8th of the price. A 1.0 gram cartridge is $12 in California and other states, but we are being charged $25 for a 1/4 gram cartridge , it’s price gouging for sure.
