Lemon Tree is a strain that Trulieve has carried in flower for quite some time now; I remember watching my first review of it from Prince Vapors in summer 2018. However, for one reason or another, it’s a strain that I haven’t gotten around to buying. Maybe it’s because I was unimpressed with another “lemon” strain from Trulieve (Oregon Lemons); whatever the case may be, I wish I had gotten around to trying this strain sooner. It has been one of the most potent and psychedelic experiences I have had from flower in quite some time, and definitely the strongest I’ve gotten from Florida’s medical cannabis industry.
Quick Facts:

Appearance/Feel
This is the kiefiest (covered in trichomes) flower I’ve gotten, ever – legal or otherwise. As you can see in the image above, Lemon Tree is a bright golden yellow/green flower that is absolutely covered in cannabinoid crystals and sprinkled with medium orange pistils. Trulieve has been more consistent with curing their flower in the past month, and this batch of Lemon Tree is another job well done by them. One out of three ceramic pods had flower that was ever so slightly on the dry side, but not enough to make me complain. As you can imagine, this bud is particularly sticky. This is another quality cure, and really boosts my faith in the progress of Trulieve’s flower all around.

Smell/Taste
While the batch of Oregon Lemons that I got a few months ago smelled nothing like lemons, Lemon Tree is extremely citrusy, and does smell like a fresh batch of lemons. When first opening the jar, there is a sharp, tart scent that sort of “bites” at your nose; this is followed by sweeter citrus undertones, with a very subtle hint of diesel – most likely acquired from its Sour Diesel parent.
Lemon Tree is equally tangy and citrusy when vaped, and even manages to retain a bit of that lemon/citrus quality when the flower is smoked. This is an enjoyable flavor that I’d recommend to any patient who enjoys citrus cannabis strains. The smell and taste both hold true to their namesake.
Smell/Taste Rating: 4.00/5.00
Effects/Medical Use
I had two distinctly different experiences medicating with Lemon Tree: the first with a low dose of medication (a very small amount smoked in one hit), and then a higher dose of medication: a fairly large bowl smoked in four hits, one of which was an extremely large toke. I will detail both experiences separately, because they demonstrate how hybrids (and even indicas & sativas) can exhibit different effects depending on the dosage.
Low Dose Effects
I felt really nice hybrid strain effects that probably leaned slightly more toward the indica side of the spectrum. Body was warm and relaxed, my mind felt at easy, and video games seemed much more fun than usual. The effects of low dosage remind me of my first positive experiences with cannabis, similar to how I feel when medicating with Girl Scout Cookies flower. The relaxation seems to last for an extended period of time, and tapers off very gently.
Possibly good for treating (in low doses):
- Anxiety
- Moderate aches and pains
- Moderate nausea/gastrointestinal issues
- General Relaxation
High Dose Effects
Lemon Tree in a high dose absolutely kicked my ass. I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t really get anxiety from cannabis, even with the most potent sativa strains. I’m not sure if the 1.2% THCV played a part in this, but about two minutes after taking a large hit of Lemon Tree, I felt my heart rate and adrenaline start climbing. About five minutes after that, I felt almost like I was having a psychedelic “trip”, as my visual field seemed so enhanced to the point that it was nearly distorted. This went on for about 15 to 20 minutes; after that gradually wore off, I felt more of the same effects that I get in low doses. Lemon Tree seems unique in that it exhibits more indica-type effects in lower doses and sativa-type effects in higher doses; I have found that the opposite is normally true in my experiences. So all cannabis patients, here’s a “heads up” of caution with Lemon Tree: no matter what your tolerance level may be, tread lightly until you feel comfortable with it.
Possibly good for treating (in high doses):
- Depression
- Lack of motivation
- ADHD
- Appetite suppressant
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.

Overall, I would best describe Lemon Tree as an “excellent” strain.
The sole negative factor of this product is that it currently costs $55/eighth. Like most all of the prices in the Florida medical cannabis industry, this is highway robbery, and is a perfect example of why vertical integration of Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers in Florida needs to come to an end – soon.
Other than the price, Lemon Tree absolutely impressed me, and I will certainly be making another purchase in the future – especially when the prices are able to come down. The unique effects of this batch make me wonder about the potentially unique therapeutic benefits of THCV, the effects I’ve experienced with this batch of Lemon Tree are slightly different from any other flower strain I’ve gotten so far.
For patients looking for potent medication, this strain is an absolute must-try. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for beginner cannabis patients, as it may be a little potent for those without much of a tolerance. Cannabis enthusiasts should really enjoy this strain – it checks all of the boxes for a quality strain and a quality product.

Thank you for your detailed explanation. I am new and still trying to figure this stuff out. (One almost needs a chemist phd for this stuff…) It sure isn’t like the 80’s. Lol.

I tried Lemon Tree Hybrid from Trulieve yesterday. I have been smoking marijuana for 43 years. I was impressed. Not only was the terpenes quality relaxing, and invigorating at the same time. The pain relief was a 4+. The cerebral effect I have to rate as a 5+. I have tried and self tested many strains. I am so very pleased with Trulieve, even though I had to buy it in flower cups. Price needs to be lowered. Although, the overall quality and experience was incredibly trippy. Made it worth the price. Overall rating of 5+. Thank you Trulieve.😎
