Strawberry Switchblade has been coming and going from Trulieve’s inventory for some time now; a batch will show up on the website once every couple of months or so. Being one of the few strains Trulieve offers at $35/eighth (and the only hybrid strain at that price), I’ve always wanted to try this one, but never seemed to catch it in stock until now. This product is a good value all around, and performs well in each of the categories I use to rate flower strains. There isn’t much other information available on Strawberry Switchblade (no Leafly page), so most of the information in this review is solely based off my experience with this one batch of flower.

Appearance/Feel
As you can see in the image above, Strawberry Switchblade is really purple; this is hands down the most vibrant and totally purple flower I’ve ever encountered, acquired through the Florida medical market or otherwise. There’s a bit of dark green mixed in there as well, and yellowish trichomes cover the buds entirely. This batch of flower was a bit on the dry side, but mine wasn’t terrible; it wasn’t nearly as bad as a batch of Stardawg I reviewed in late 2018.
This flower is really pleasing to the eye, and it was cured fairly well. If it weren’t so dry, this grow would have been a near-homerun.

Smell/Taste
Strawberry Switchblade indeed smells like strawberries; in fact, this is one of the best sweet-smelling strains I’ve come across. This is not a “loud” or pungent strain that’s going to smell up your entire house/apartment, but sniffing the jar always yields pleasing results. The most prominent smell/taste is the sweet, sugary berry – this is probably the “sweetest” smelling strain I have had, even more so than Zkittlez. Underneath these dominant terpenes, there is a tangy/sour citrus smell that really complements the sweet strawberry for an extremely pleasing vapor or smoke. When vaporized, I found the vapor to taste of warm strawberry creme flavored dessert, maybe cookies or a slice of pie. Even when nearing the end of the bowl, the flavor was nice. Strawberry Switchblade even retains its sweetness when smoked; this would be a very enjoyable strain to roll into a joint for patients who find the best relief of their symptoms through that route of administration. Simply put, this is one of my favorite smelling/tasting strains in the program; this fact coupled with the $35 price tag resulted in the rare occasion of me ordering a second eighth immediately after sampling the first. The only other strain that earned an immediate second buy so far, has been Colombian Gold.
Smell/Taste Rating: 4.30/5.00
Effects/Medical Use
Strawberry Switchblade is a pretty well-balanced hybrid strain from my experience. The best way I can describe it is to think of a “heavier” Colombian Gold, for patients who have tried that strain. Though it is “only” around 15% THC, for me, this flower performed as well as any ~20% THC flower I’ve tried.
The initial effects are more cerebral/sativa-like, but not overwhelmingly stimulating at any point. In fact, the strain has a way of inducing motivation without ever feeling too speedy or racy. This is a good strain for promoting creativity. Around a half hour after initially medicating, Strawberry Switchblade begins to exhibit more indica-like effects of warm full-body relaxation. It does not necessarily make me sleepy; however, I could see this strain helping relieve insomnia if consumed in high doses before bed. I would have to guess this is a 55/45% indica-dominant hybrid.
Possibly good for treating:
- Anxiety
- General enjoyment of life/activities
- Minor to moderate aches and pains
- Minor to moderate nausea/gastrointestinal issues
- General Relaxation
- Insomnia (in higher doses)
I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.
Effects Rating: 3.90/5.00
Overall Rating: 4.07/5.00
Overall, I would best describe this batch of Strawberry Switchblade as “a really good product, especially for the price”.
Strawberry Switchblade is overall an extremely pleasing strain to medicate with, from my experience. Definitely in my top 3 favorite hybrid strains that I’ve tried so far, and at $35 an eighth, there’s no denying that this medication has great value. I’ve already ordered my second eighth after a couple of days of experience with the first. Will definitely buy this strain again in the future, especially as Trulieve continues to improve their curing process. Strawberry Switchblade that has been properly and completely cured would be an absolute knockout strain. Will be looking for this in the future.
