Hey all! Hope your January has been excellent – you may have noticed that I’ve taken a bit of a break from posting in the past few days. My full-time career has kept me extremely busy for the past week or so, resulting in extremely limited free time. Rest assured, however, that more content is on the way in the coming weeks. I’ve finally succeeded in placing a delivery order with GrowHealthy, so expect reviews of some of their distillates in the coming weeks. I’ve also ordered an eighth of Dutch Hawaiian TruFlower from Trulieve, and look to order more of their new strains for my use and review, as I’m sure the options will continue to become more plentiful this year. 2019 continues to chug along, and the Florida cannabis program continues to grow.
Altmed/MUV flower pods will be available next Friday, 02.01.2019
MUV announced via Instagram that their long and eagerly-awaited flower pods will finally debut one week today, on February 1st. This is most exciting for Central and South Florida patients who are able to access MUV’s dispensaries and delivery radius, bringing the total of Florida’s Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers that offer flower to 3 – the other two are Trulieve and Curaleaf. As MUV has been known for quality concentrate products, it will be interesting to see the competition they are able to bring to the flower market in Florida. Hopefully, they will be able to expand their delivery and/or storefront locations to the panhandle this year, as I am looking forward to being able to try and review their products.
GrowHealthy’s Tallahassee location is coming soon
As I mentioned earlier, I have a couple of GrowHealthy distillates scheduled for delivery next weekend (Bird of Paradise and Grape Stomper); however, I learned an interesting bit of news while speaking to the patient representative: I made a comment about GrowHealthy’s need to expand to the Panhandle so that we could have more variety and competition up here – the rep then told me that that was actually about to happen “really soon”. This is promising news for Panhandle patients who are currently only able to receive delivery orders from GrowHealthy on a biweekly basis; the addition of a location in Tallahassee should complete their delivery radius and allow for statewide delivery each day of the week for all locations. We look forward to seeing more options in 2019!
Trulieve and Curaleaf continue to improve their flower and grow a larger variety of strains
One year ago, there weren’t many options for flower in Florida. It seems that in the past 4 months or so, however, that both Trulieve and Curaleaf have been consistently growing higher quality flower; both MMTCs also have made a larger variety of strains available for Florida patients. When smokable flower becomes available later this year, I expect Trulieve and Curaleaf both to have even more refined and high-quality buds available. 2019 is going to be a great year for Florida cannabis.
Closing Thoughts
Growth of Florida’s medical cannabis program has been steady in the first month of 2019. Some promising developments have come to light, namely Governor Ron DeSantis’ order for the Florida legislature to essentially “fix” the current medical marijuana flaw by the middle of March 2019 – or he will do it for them. Dispensaries seem to have realized that patients want more availability of flower and other full-spectrum cannabinoid products, and have responded by making them more available, notably in the last half of 2018 and the first month of 2019. As I’ve been saying for months, I fully expect 2019 to be a booming year for Florida cannabis. The pieces are set into place; now is the time that we patients capitalize and continue to make our voices heard. We have the ability to influence the ultimate outcome of what happens to our program and its accessibly/affordability for patients this year, so may we continue to speak loudly for a program that Floridians deserve. Let’s make this happen.
