Trulieve Flower Review: Crescendo (Indica)

For months, it seemed like 9lb Hammer was the only indica strain available from Trulieve. Finally, that changed at the beginning of 2019 with the release of Skywalker OG (review will be written soon, pending availability) and this strain – Crescendo. With 23.5% THC, this is one of the most potent batches of flower I’ve seen in a while – just above the Super Silver Haze I got at 23.0% THC. Crescendo is a much “heavier” indica than 9lb Hammer for me personally, but it still has potent cerebral effects.

Quick Facts:

Crescendo  (Indica)

Batch/Harvest Number: FFOBTRUGSP000001 (that’s an “O” at the beginning and zeroes at the end)

822.5 mg THC/3.5g

0.0 mg CBD/3.5g

23.5% THC – This is relatively high compared to recent flower batches from Trulieve.

0.00% CBD

0.90% CBG

24.4% Total Cannabinoids

Appearance/Feel

Crescendo buds are fluffy, around “average” density, and bright green and gold in color. Covered in orange and amber pistils, this really is some of the prettiest flower I’ve seen in a while. You can take a look at it and the Super Silver Haze I picked up recently here – Crescendo is the large ceramic pod-shaped bud on the left side. This batch was a little bit on the dry side, but not terribly. Again, this was a good grow.

Appearance Rating: 4.10/5.00

Smell/Taste

Crescendo has a lot going on in the smell/taste department. It’s definitely skunky and musky, with an underlying hint of pepper and a sweet floral smell. This bud is loud! The top 3 smelliest strains I’ve gotten from Trulieve would have to be Crescendo, Sunset Sherbert, and Gorilla Grapes. When vaped, the skunky and sweet tastes really seem to be the dominant ones – there’s a very subtle hint of a sweet and spicy citrus. I’d guess that there are moderate concentrates of a pretty decent variety of terpenes in this strain. I enjoyed it; it reminded me a lot of Sunset Sherbert, but with different ratios of the terpenes for a slightly different smell and taste.

Smell/Taste Rating: 3.90/5.00

Effects/Medical Use

Crescendo was a really hard-hitting indica strain for me, especially if I was already the least bit tired before medicating with it. It knocked out any pain or headaches I had as well, so I suspect this one is a good pain reliever for a number of patients. When I first tried Crescendo, I was already pretty tired and slightly sleepy, and the effects completely took over my body and sent me into a deep sleep not long after getting into bed. However, when using it in the earlier evening hours (like I did before beginning to type this review), there’s definitely a more cerebral and stoney quality to it as well. I would have to guess this strain is about 60 to 80 percent indica based on how the effects hit me. To me, it’s heavier and more effective for insomnia than 9lb Hammer. Though Crescendo doesn’t necessarily stimulate my appetite, it definitely dries my mouth out a lot, so it keeps me going to my Zephyr Hills.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Pain, headaches, joint pain, etc.
  • Anxiety, irritability, “wired” mind
  • Great for any type of relaxation
  • Insomnia
  • Nausea and gastrointestinal symptoms such as indigestion, pain related to Chron’s Disease, IBS, etc.

I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every bo dy is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.

Effects Rating: 4.00/5.00

Overall Rating: 4.00/5.00

Overall, I would best describe Crescendo as a “good, heavy” strain.

Crescendo makes for a really good afternoon, evening, and nighttime medication. I would not recommend using it if you have any tasks or plans that need to be completed – it is a true indica that will keep you rooted to just about any comfortable seat. Crescendo is dank. I recommend trying it at least once – hopefully the price comes down when the smoking ban is lifted in mid-March of this year.
