Trulieve Flower Review: Super Silver Haze (Sativa)

Super Silver Haze is a classic powerhouse sativa strain perhaps best known for taking first prize in the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1997, 1998, and 1999. The widespread critical acclaim for this strain really isn’t a surprise when we take a look at its parents: Northern Lights, Skunk, and Haze – all notable strains in their own right. Super Silver Haze has definitely been one of my favorite strains from Trulieve – though I am admittedly a bit biased towards sativa strains.

Quick Facts:

Super Silver Haze  (Sativa)

Batch/Harvest Number: FFOBTRUE9W000002 (that’s an “O” at the beginning and zeroes at the end)

805.0 mg THC/3.5g

0.0 mg CBD/3.5g

23.0% THC – This is relatively high compared to recent flower batches from Trulieve

0.00% CBD

02.70% CBG

0.30 % CBN – One of the first flower strains we’ve seen that has any amount of this cannabinoid

26.0% Total Cannabinoids

Appearance/Feel

It really seems like Trulieve was on their game with these recent batches of flower. I also picked up an eighth of Crescendo (review coming soon), and both flowers were high in THC; they were both cured very well too. This is a welcome observation after Trulieve’s recent batches of flower have taken a small dip in overall quality and THC content. Super Silver Haze features densely packed bright green buds that are absolutely covered in sparkling cannabinoid crystals and dark pink pistils. The bud has excellent moisture content – not too dry or too “uncured” either – perfect balance. There are hints of lighter greens/yellow and also darker pink/amber pistils peppered throughout the buds as well; they really have those classic sativa features. This was a good grow.

Appearance Rating: 4.00/5.00

Smell/Taste

Super Silver Haze has a bright aroma of earthy pine and sharp citrus, akin to Jack Herer; I suspect that this strain may contain more limonene than Jack Herer, however, as the citrus smell is much more present in this strain. Vaporizing the flower yields a great tasting vapor that features even more citrus and an underlying sweetness that really balances out the flavor nicely. This is a strain that I personally keep coming back to smell, though I don’t enjoy the smell quite as much as the more fruity strains like Colombian Gold.

Smell/Taste Rating: 3.90/5.00

Effects/Medical Use

I definitely found great benefits for my depression and ADHD particularly when medicating with Super Silver Haze. This has been one of the best strains for helping me focus, which could possibly be due to higher amounts of Pinene being present in this strain. Again drawing a comparison to the similar-scented Jack Herer, it is well known for its ability to mitigate the short-term memory loss side effect of THC. My theory is that both Jack Herer and Super Silver Haze contain high amounts of pinene, accounting for both of their earthy pine smells and their common effect of mitigating THC-induced short-term memory loss; again, this is why research into the hundreds of cannabinoids and terpenes present in cannabis is so paramount to how we really unlock its medicinal potential in the coming decades.

Super Silver Haze creates a bright, cerebral high that has a bit of full-body relaxation present as well. I have not experienced any “sativa anxiety” while using this strain; I’d say it’s somewhere in between Colombian Gold and Jack Herer in the mellow quality of the high. I’m able to remain productive and focused on all tasks that need to be completed; communicating information both in person and through text-based interfaces comes quickly and naturally.

Possibly good for treating:

  • Depression and related anxiety
  • ADD/ADHD or focus-related issues
  • Good for treating lack of motivation
  • Improves concentration and memory recall

I’m definitely no medical doctor, so please take the preceding conditions only as my own personal observations from using this strain and having experience with a multitude of different cannabis strains. Every body is different, and every body reacts different to various medications.

Effects Rating: 4.40/5.00

Overall Rating: 4.10/5.00

Overall, I would best describe Super Silver Haze as a “great” strain.

I can see why it won the Cannabis Cup 3 years in a row. The buds are pretty, it smells and tastes good, and the effects are truly excellent. I hope Trulieve keeps this strain around – at $45/eighth, it’s one of their middle-ground priced strains. Hopefully all the prices will come down this year; regardless, Trulieve should keep this strain around. It’s a good one.

  1. Fabulous!! Just picked up a 1/2 oz of Super Silver Haze from Trulieve for $120 in their new discounted 1/2 oz containers.

I HAVE to say, it’s one of my new all-time favorite Sativa’s for all-day smoking. I bought it on a total whim based on the effects it seemed to mitigate, particularly sense I avoid Sativa’s in general, as they can increase my anxiety and paranoia in the “evenings” for my “first smoke”, but SSH is so freaking fabulous.

The small is so sweet and fruity and spicy, and the taste is citrusy candy-sweet. I started rolling with this beautiful bud every night, and it makes for the tastiest most satisfying joint-smoking. I vape a small bowl or two every night in my Storz and Bickel Mighty too, and it makes the minty-sweet citrusy flavor explode ten-fold.

My ONLY REGRET is that I didn’t get 4x of these containers as they were out of stock within 48hrs and I haven’t seen them back since.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Super Silver Haze!!!

Thank you SO MUCH Trulieve for making this available at such a reasonable price point!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep it coming!!!

NOTHING compares for the immeasurable overwhelming anxiety from my PTSD and Autism symptoms.

Thank you to this author as well!
