Jack Herer is a classic strain, known for the cannabis activist of the same name, and is a staple sativa at dispensaries across the states that have legalized marijuana in some form. Trulieve has consistently kept this strain in stock nearly every week at their panhandle locations, and I’ve had a couple of different batches of it now. Both batches had THC levels greater than 20%; though the first was the highest THC I have known to have consumed in flower, coming it at just over 27% THC. The second batch, though not quite as potent, has had consistent medicinal benefits and clean effects that are quite enjoyable. It is an energetic strain that falls somewhere in the middle of racy and mellow, in between other sativas I’ve reviewed on this blog.
Quick Facts:

Appearance/Feel
Both times I’ve purchased Jack Herer from Trulieve, I’ve found the flower to be dried really well, leaving slightly moist and sticky buds that have a wonderfully clean and pleasing appearance. The buds are fuzzy and pale green in color, with lots of kief and a moderate amount of amber pistils throughout; surprisingly for a sativa, each batch has featured compressed and slightly dense nugs. Jack Herer consistently looks nice and clean, and I can’t wait for the day that we are able to buy full flower versions of these strains, so we can see the true beauty and feel the full medicinal benefits that they have to offer (I truly believe proper curing has an impact on the final result of the strain both in appearance and effects; currently our Florida dispensaries are having to quick-cure, which is still yielding good results but not a reflection of the true potential of the strain). Hopefully that happens sometime in 2019; until then, this product will definitely keep me satisfied.

Smell/Taste
When I open the jar, the smell of Jack Herer takes me back to vacations in the mountains when I’ve hiked up over 4,000 feet and the type of forestry begins to change over to high elevation pines and spruce trees. The smell is very bright and clean: woody and piney with an earthy undertone and the ever-so-subtle hint of citrus. The taste is equally wonderful, and leaves a very piney and herbal taste upon exhale. This is another one of those strains that seems to keep me coming back to the jar to smell it. It smells great in a completely different way than both Sour Diesel and Colombian Gold or other sativas; again, I always envision the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina when I smell Jack Herer. A true woody and earthy strain with subtle hints of tangy citrus. Very enjoyable.

Effects/Medical Use
Jack Herer is an energetic sativa that makes its effects known quite quickly after vaporization. Though not quite as racy as Sour Diesel, Jack Herer is one of those strains I would recommend for early morning to early afternoon use. It is good for productivity and also good for creativity – I happen to be writing this review while medicated from it. Patients looking to ease their depression without having as much of a risk for sativa-induced anxiety may find relief with using Jack Herer. It also seems to focus thoughts and alleviate symptoms of ADD/ADHD: not quite as efficiently as Colombian Gold worked in that matter for me, but enough to be noteworthy when reviewing medicinal benefits. Jack Herer has worked well to alleviate pain from my tension and sinus headaches, but it does not seem to be the best strain for muscular pain relief in my case. Jack Herer should be considered by any patients/consumers who enjoy sativas; again, it is a classic strain that I feel everyone should try at least once. It did not seem to have many if any negative side effects, and does bring on the munchies from time to time. Solid sativa through and through.

I would best describe this strain as “very good”.
As always, I appreciate your taking time to read this review, and genuinely hope that it benefits at least one patient.
